Moto X Unveils New Opportunities for Mobile Customization

Motorola finally unveiled a new smart phone, Moto X, with Google as its new owner after months of rumors and speculations. The highly anticipated Moto X marks the cell phone makers’ first flagship device made in the US and is its latest attempt to break into a smart phone market dominated by Apple and Samsung.

After the years of work, Motorola is hoping that the Moto X will be Android phone every user know and want to use. The new Moto X includes number of user-friendly features such as Touchless Control which is a revolutionary new voice activation and control system for smart phones which allows the user to get directions, check weather or simply perform other functions by telling the smart phone what to do and without ever touching the phone. The Motorola’s Quick Capture feature allows users to go from pocket to pictures in two seconds. There’s an Active Display and this feature lets essential information like time, SMS and email notifications simply visible on the screen. When something important pops up, the phone will vibrate and touching the display will show more details.

The most exciting aspect of the Moto X lies in its advanced customization options. The Motorola’s Moto Maker, an online studio lets the user to choose colors, select details on the front, back, accents, wallpapers and even phone’s memory size. The user can choose to add a name or a short message to further personalize their smart phone. There are more than 2,000 possible color combinations, textures and other designs a consumer will be able to choose from ranging from bright teal to woodgrain.

There are no surprises regarding the specifications of Moto X and a good hardware which includes a body that’s nearly as slim as the iPhone 5 but comes with a 4.7-inch Amoled Display with HD 720p. The phone is compact and very light at 130G and is powered by a 2200mAh battery. The rear camera is 10MP with clear pixels and with the LED flash, 1080p HD video. The front camera is 2MP with 1080p HD video. The phone will operate on Android Jelly Bean and is built on Motorola X8 mobile computing system architecture. The Motorola is set to release in late August or early September in the US for AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile and US Cellular: starting at $200 for the 16 GB version and $250 for the 32 GB version. The phone is narrower than most android phones with edges curved but the middle is thicker and fits nicely in hands.

While the Moto X will mark Google’s most significant effort to get a foothold in the smart phone market, Google’s android mobile operating system already leads the pack in the android application development industry. Although Motorola has released other phones, the Moto X is the first to be designed and released under Google and that’s not enough, Motorola is betting on the Moto X that it can win over consumers by offering a huge palette of colors to personalize their handsets and intend to make it stand out from the rest of the competitors.
