Latest Announcement from Microsoft – Satya Nadella is the new CEO. Satya Nadella, a veteran at Microsoft, was named the CEO months after former CEO Steve Ballmer announced in August 2013, that he would step down. Nadella headed Microsoft’s Cloud and Enterprise Group as Executive Vice President and would take up the new role effective immediately. Nadella a Microsoft Veteran
Nadella hails from India and has studied Electrical Engineering from the Mangalore University. He later moved to the US for further studies in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Known for his deep business knowledge and hard core technology expertise, he held many crucial positions within the company and headed Microsoft’s Server and Enterprise division towards profits.
Nadella’s search background
It’s interesting to note that Nadella took over Microsoft’s search technology in 2007 and lead it to see a new horizon. From the then prevalent MSN to today’s second largest search engine, Bing has seen a lot of changes and has transformed into this powerful search engine today.
Nadella’s key contributions in Cloud Computing
Nadella was also instrumental in the transition of Microsoft’s server infrastructure from the traditional client server to a more advanced Cloud infrastructure and was a part of strategizing and technically leading the world’s largest cloud infrastructures that support Bing, Xbox, Office and other services from Microsoft.

He started his career with Microsoft’s competitor – Sun Microsystems. Nadella joined Microsoft and has been a catalyst in many crucial technology projects for 22 years now. He quoted: “I came here because I believed Microsoft was the best company in the world. I saw then how clearly we empower people to do magical things with our creations and ultimately make the world a better place. I knew there was no better company to join if I wanted to make a difference. This is the very same inspiration that continues to drive me today.”

Bill Gates will be the new founder and technology advisor said “During this time of transformation, there is no better person to lead Microsoft than Satya Nadella.” Bill Gates will continue to devote more time to the company as a technology advisor and will support Nadella in technology progression and innovation.
